What Is Alpha Inventions?

Hello Curious People,

First off my name is Cheru Jackson, and I’m just a regular working guy with an apartment and an old car with a big imagination. I don’t think like anyone in this world, because if I did I would not have been able to create alphainventions.com  I just ate a McChicken, and I’m a little sleepy.

The blogs and links appearing on my site are just the most recently updated blogs from people like yourself.

At first I was frustrated to have to go through with getting an account with Word Press just to explain how my site his more helpful than harmful, but I’m now glad I have an account, and this might stimulate you to check out the site more often.  I’m a friggin blogger now yay!

Ever thought of this?

If you were to comment on a blog right after the webmaster published (updated) it, you would get a faster response, because most likely the webmaster is still online, and shocked to see that someone has commented so quickly.  This is either very simple, or I’m an advanced human.

It’s just an experiment to help webmasters (bloggers) connect in real-time.  It looks simple, but it took me 3 months of coding to build this thing. I’m bored, in my 20s, and this thing is cool.

The more exposure to the site means more traffic to your blog you from alphainventions.com when you update it.

That’s how the site is made to work.

The huge truck got stuck under the bridge, and many men tried to get it out for hours and failed until the creator of alphainventions.com told them let the air out of the tires to set it free.

If you are concerned that it’s a scam, then contact the government, or whatever it takes, because they are going to tell you how cool it is when they get done with the investigation. I may even link to this post.

I’m great at coding the site, but at the moment not so great at explaining it’s benefits and features. I tried to make it as simple as possible to understand, and I didn’t even put that many buttons, links, or fun junk on the site. but I know people have a craving for more understanding.

I might as well make this post my about page lol :) . Real laughter out loud not the text message kind.

Here is how it works. (simple as possible I hope).. Ready?

Let’s go…

If you update or publish your blog at the same time my visitors are browsing blogs in my site then my visitors will get a chance to see your blog in real-time. BAM! (the entire blog is in their face instantly) It’s not even annoying to watch.  Is it alpha addicts??

I also provide a link to your blog in case they want it to open your blog in a new window, or bookmark your blog . The links provides your title, and description to help my visitors get a better understanding on what your blog is about, and get more interested. Alphainventions.com is useful for wordpress.com , typepad.com, spaces.live.com, and blogger.com I love it, and want to grow it like a tree. Yahh!

To get more traffic from alphainventions.com just keep your blog updated or go to the homepage, and notify readers about your blog. It’s so simple.

More..

A realistic goal of mine for alphainventions.com is to provide a way for us to see only blogs that we are interested in update in real time, because this will provide more quality, and blogger interaction.

Interaction part is why I built the site.  It’s fun to see people come to your site and find it interesting as soon as you update or publish, so I want to provide a faster ways of doing this.

Earlier in the project I tried to make a fair, and logical way for people to submit their link every so often to get more readers for a short period of time, but so many people didn’t understand how the site worked so I guess they may have overlooked it. I’m thinking they didn’t know why they should submit their link.

Help please…

Everyone wants their blog to be read instantly, and I want to provide everyone with that experience.

If anyone here can provide an example of a full explanation on how the site works in better terms it will be greatly appreciated.

Good job to those who do understand how alphainventions.com works. If I looked at it from outside of my webmaster box I’d probably be a little confused about what alphainventions was at first sight.

Many people have their blogs set to ping services like weblogs.com when their blog has been published or updated. Visit http://alphainventions.com/block to block your blog from being read if you’d like.

If someone is on Alpha Inventions when you publish your blog to the public, it will be read by a visitor(s) of mine.

I have no problem helping you with the situation. Contact info is available on the site.

The entire time reading Please keep in mind that mostly bloggers, and webmasters use alphainventions.com , and not the average googler, or reader. This should help you to see how the site is more beneficial to people like you. You are thinking in terms of SEO, and things of that nature, and Alpha Inventions is designed to be more on the Instant communication side of things, but I will make adjustments to improve targeting as mentioned in previous posts.

I do take your feedback seriously.

Alpha Inventions is far from a robot, because it’s controlled by the visitors, and blog publishers. If you don’t publish a blog nobody will see it. If nobody is on alphanventions.com nobody will see the blogs you published or updated. Simple. It was coded this way to avoid being a spam site. Once the site has grown more, I will get more into the coding part with you, so you can better understand how it works.

It’s just not about finding something interesting to read.

The purpose of Alpha Inventions is to connect bloggers with each other in a faster way, so there are no gaps in communication. Targeted communication will improve.

The fact that someone knows that they can contact you, or provide feedback to you almost instantly make your blog more interesting even though they did not search for your content.

Youtube.com , and weblogs.com uses a similar method.

Again for the records the adjustment will be made in the near future to provide more targeted results.

As the site grows I will implement a system that will show readers blogs very similar to blogs they have created themselves. This will be cool.

If you still have your doubts I would like you to keep me informed on small things I can do to make the site better for you while still keeping everyone who benefits from it now happy.

If I can’t help one person with a small problem, how can I help millions?

I’ve recently changed the languages to English only for a few days to see if things improve for English speaking bloggers. Just a test.

I will be working on a way for readers to toggle languages.

Thanks for the positive, and valuable feedback everyone. Good job. Keep it up.

I suggest people get the most out of alphainventions.com before too many people start to benefit from it. This will take about a year, so don’t panic.

The site does not refresh the page over and over. This would be spam, and I hate spam as much as anyone else. Quality first.

You may have had computer errors, because there is no possible way that your site appeared and disappeared in less than 2 seconds unless someone submitted a blog right after you submitted yours.

or

You may have hit the “play” button too many times, or a user may have hit the “who’s on alphainventions.com now” button too many time while you were on alphainventions.com

I apologize for the inconvenience, but this is not how alpha inventions works. Please continue to work with it, and let me know if you experience this again.

The fact that someone loaded, or clicked (there are links too) your page from alphainventions over 100 times is no fault of mine.

This is the same as someone clicking your site from Google, or Yahoo 100 times. They can’t help it either. I wish I could help. Just because I’m not a popular people tend to pick on me. (a little)

When someone submits their blog, then your blog will be removed automatically. There is no database.

If you don’t want your blog shown, don’t submit it to alphainventions.com, and it will never be show on alphainventions much. This has been mentioned before. Read the threads.

There are many people who get plenty of comments to their blog from visitors, and I’m sorry nobody found your blog interesting enough to comment on it. People do have to be interested in order for you to get comments. This is no fault of mine. If you went to the store looking for beans, and a clerk tried to sell you rice, then you will reject him or her.

I ask you all to get a better understanding on how blogs work before we get emotional. A lack of understanding can ruin things for everyone.

I hate to seem so direct, but I guess it’s needed. If anyone else has stat counter, or analytics please verify that the readers are real readers located from different IP address and different places around the world.

The site is designed to help, and not hurt. If you have any ideas to improve it let me know. Great job providing me with your feedback.

Please let me know if you have any ideas on making the site more interesting, and beneficial. Please post in public, because I’d like everyone to be involved.

Brilliant… This is a great concept, and I hope it catches on in a big way.

Add a feature to remember the last 10 blog postings by tag or category (use the top 10 tags so memory doesn’t get out of hand) Offer an RSS feed by tag for anyone who wants to list the last 10 blog entries posted on their site, when someone reads it.

So example I might want to subscribe to alainventions rss feed for tag ‘politics’. Zap, you send back a list of the 10 most recent posts in that tag. (you’ll probably want to consider rss feed refresh rates here)

  23. 24 nickoomba October 23, 2008 at 1:49 pm

As an explanation: It’s like having your blog on AIM because you can watch it motion without checking it by logging in. That way, you aren’t wasting time logging onto someone’s website for nothing. Just a suggestion. Thank you for putting my link on your site.

  24. 25 alphainventions October 23, 2008 at 3:33 pm

Thanks everyone for your valuable feedback.

Natalie you have to check back pretty often to see if you have been bumped by another blogger.

This is an interesting and useful service. My problem is that I frequently reedit my blog several times after I see the publication version to get it just right.

Is there any possibility of putting in a delay of maybe 2 inactive minutes, or are you willing for people to see slightly different versions?

    MLR

  28. 29 alphainventions October 24, 2008 at 5:18 pm

    MaryLou,

You are fine. I don’t mind them seeing different versions.

Are you Harley from Kalamazoo? If not, you sure are computer savy. And if you are, then we need to talk about fixing my blog. How do you think to do these kinds of things? Some days I can’t even figure out how to tie my own shoes.

  42. 43 yourcomputerfriends October 29, 2008 at 11:51 pm

This is written on my understanding based on what I read. If it’s wrong >.< git rid of it. Please. =)

I think to help you explain the service your site provides you should explain it in a way the two most common people reading it would understand. You have the people who who have a good understanding of the world of blogging and would quickly relize the value of your site in a short and sweet manner (becuase they already grasp 80% of the concept)

Your site allows users to interact more directly in real time with bloggers who are activly updating their blog. The blogs you ware watching roll by are BRAND SPANKIN NEW! (anyone who finds value in interacting with a blog the moment it’s updated with already understand be on their way so…)

So here is where you have to kind of spell it out for the people who are new to the blogging community and where you would outline the value of being able to interact with bloggers in real time based on their blog being updated.

Old blog is old. responding to a blog a week+ after it’s been published isn’t as fun as interacting with it in real time right after it’s been updated. This also inceases the cahnce of the blog publisher interacting with YOU after you’ve posted on it.

It’s like reading the news ticker at the bottom of the screen on CNN. This is interesting, I want to know what people are blogging about in real time, right now. Good thing there is alpha inventions amirite? If it’s interesting, interact, if not, who cares something new is on it’s way. This also has the potential to inroduce you to a blog that you never even knew existed, but you have alot of interest in. Even better, when you interact with the new blog that you’ve found, it’s fresh. Then *FUTURE SPEACH* you can sign up with the site, update your list of favorite blogs then watch all your favorites update in real time. Which will make it even better than the CNN news ticker becuase there won’t be any of that new no one wants to read about.

P.S. Quickest way to describe it. Alpha Inventions displays blogs out of a pool of ##### the moment that blog has been updated. Each blog you see has at that very moment been updated by it’s publisher.

I love your app. It’s just like having a web-based “glimpse-a-blog post-as-it-flashes” RSS reader. I like seeing random blogs. It lets me see what’s happening and buzzing quite efficiently, although I think the customization option will be a wonderful addition.

Well, you will not be driving an old car and eating chicken mcnuggets for long. What a fabulous, creative idea you have here. It is kind of like a ticker-tape for blogs, if you will. Or perhaps those guys that watch like three different games of football or sports all at once on there television.

Thank you for including my site. Also, it would be very interesting to have an alphasitometer to see what countries or who is viewing your blog. I am always curious and WordPress is very limited in the stat information they can give me. So, think about it.

Thank you and best of luck to you!

    Interesting. I think I get.
Do you have to submit your blog to this site for it show up or does it just take blogs from WordPress and blogger and the other sites you mentioned? Because I had never heard of it until I started to get traffic from it, and have never entered my url.
Well anyways, thanks for the views you brought my way.

Just curious and trying to learn a little something, today November 3 2008 was the first time I’ve seen alphainventions as a referrer. Does that mean somebody submitted my URL to you ? And if not, should I submit my site to alpheinventions now or it doesn’t matter now since your site started referring mine. I update just about everyday.

And thank you for helping out the little guys.

    Hats off.
A truly helpful site that I am addicted to.

very interesting concept. I followed the source link from some hits on my live spaces page, wondering where on the web did these come from. Typically, only family and friends check it out. hope the concept works out, and makes you some cash.

  74. 78 violetskye November 7, 2008 at 9:54 pm

coolbeans. I still don’t get it but I’m glad that you are in your own little world because it sounds like you’re having a great time there AND you got to create this awesome bloggy-thing that we all can appreciate even if we don’t understand it. rock on rockstar!

  75. 79 thedoyle November 7, 2008 at 10:59 pm

You hit the nail on the head, though I could help you be more concise! ;-)

I’m intrigued! It doesn’t seem to have the annoying blog scraping dimensions that some of the other sites of this “genre” have.

  79. 83 pennygould November 8, 2008 at 5:24 pm

Ok that’s cool! One of your readers clicked on my blog on promo codes, hope they found a good deal! Have fun tecno geek, you’re not alone in the extreme left brain universe! Just remember to tie your shoes before crossing the street and you won’t get run over! Have a fun and coffee filled day!

  82. 86 Jillian November 9, 2008 at 7:06 am

    Greetings,
Well, this is all a little complicated for me, but it seems cool and you seem like a very nice person. I’ll try to figure it all out.

Have one question: does the number of clicks on my blog from your site translate into views by people, or just appearances on your site? (See, I told you it’s complicated for me.)

Anyway, glad to see young entrepreneurship. I hope you eventually make a fortune to rival the google guys.

    Cheers and thanks

Real people. It would be spam any other way.

My explaination on how alphainventions.com works may have been way too long, and I do understand if you didn’t comprehend, get a chance to finish, or just said “man this is way too long”.

I didn’t get to read the entire thing, but I’ve read half of it and so far I’ve liked what I read. :) Kudos to you thinking of such an idea. It’s smart and I like your whole real-time writer-reader approach. It’s very good.

    Keep it up!

  87. 92 Kimberly November 9, 2008 at 9:26 pm

Saw referrals to my “Psychology Tidbits & More” blog from your site. Thanks. Checked out your site and was nice to see other blogs.

  89. 94 ciarcullen November 10, 2008 at 1:30 am

I’m really taken with this. You’re much smarter than the average guy, and I’ve found in the last few days a few really enjoyable blogs outside my small circle of romance/fantasy writers. Awesome. Thanks! I’ll be able to say “I almost knew him when.”

  90. 95 Laurie Pringle November 10, 2008 at 2:06 am

Very cool idea, congratulations on seeing your concept to completion. personally I would be very excited to see comments posted directly after an update when I could possibly respond and have a pseudo real time debate or conversation very clever way to humanize blogging. hell maybe Ill do a post about you, interested in an interview?

  92. 97 iam.gmo November 10, 2008 at 4:10 pm

  96. 102 frigginloon November 11, 2008 at 1:45 am

OK, I first discovered Alphainventions after the name kept appearing in my wordpress stats referrers section. I thought who is this dude? So I clicked on the url and found this weird site, which to be honest I didn’t understand. But did I care? Nope, it was bringing me traffic and it wasn’t a porn site. The next day there it was again, so I followed the link again. But this time instead of clicking straight off I watched with fascination as my blog site suddenly appeared. What the? Hmm, this was cool. Now I am a alpha addict too! Good job.

  116. 124 Xan Skinner November 14, 2008 at 3:36 am

Interesting concept. It switches really fast. As more and more blogs get on, it could develop the feel of cars whizzing a person stopped alongside an interstate highway. Maybe too fast for old people like me?!

  117. 125 Karen November 14, 2008 at 7:20 am

Thanks for adding me! Cool idea!

    Great INvention. Thanks

  120. 129 Beeha November 14, 2008 at 2:49 pm

Wow. I have to spend more time studying what you do, though I get the general idea. I think once I think on it, I might be able to submit something that explains what you do in simple terms:

You share the wealth. You share the wealth that counts, the ideas, called blogs, that people put their heart and souls into, and you share them fairly.

Just like we learned as kids — wait for your turn; and in sports, good sportsmanship – be a good winner AND a good loser; have some manners, and talk to the players on the other team, too: Send a comment to the person you just bumped off. I love it. Thanks so much.

Thanks for creating Alpha Inventions. It’s driven quite a bit of traffic to my site. I enjoy visiting the site and seeing what other people are doing.

  126. 135 bluestreak2 November 14, 2008 at 8:32 pm

That was weird, I posted on my wordpress and then a while later checked out the stats and I suddenly had this constant stream coming from alphainventions. So I checked it out, and then ended up here.

It’s a neat concept. And I don’t think extra exposure can hurt anything.

Thank you very much for adding my site: http://fakirscanada.spaces.live.com/default.aspx
I think your alphainventions application is awesome, and your blog on it is very cute. I am very excited by the potential of this application in the work of gathering, mobilizing and focusing like-minded online socio/political activists. In the next few days, I will be linking to your site via my sites and blogs. On my wishlist regarding this app: why don’t you set up paypal for donations? I would donate money for the further development of this app. I would love to see a newsletter; and I would love to see hyper-search capacity, to track subjects.
    Best wishes and regards.

very cool concept! I appreciate any traffic! (was wondering where I was getting all the hits from!!)

  134. 144 Nikki Wright November 16, 2008 at 12:52 am

This is a great idea. My new hits jumped substantially when my site appeared on your page. I will definitely highlight this site on my blog. Thanks for putting in the effort to put this out there for everyone.

  135. 145 Paul November 16, 2008 at 2:03 am

Ahh, and then the old content problem. When you a start a site by saying you’ll get traffic, you attract a lot of empty attention seekers, fact of life, I’m afraid.

  136. 146 Ano November 16, 2008 at 3:05 am

Nice idea. I don’t do my site for the hits, I do it for the interest I have in finding things that are forgotten or abandoned or interesting to me. This is a nice way for people to find it that otherwise wouldn’t. Very nice idea. Thanks.

  137. 147 visuallens November 16, 2008 at 3:11 am

I think this is a great idea. I will try it out Thanks for putting in the effort for all.

Amazing and impressive! I do have a question, however.

Do people actually have to click through to the blog to be counted or are the numbers being driven by how many time the new post pops up here?

My blog now links to Alpha Inventions.com, hot dog! Thanks for inventing such a cool program!

  188. 200 Scope November 19, 2008 at 3:11 pm

Cool! I suggest we re-configure the page into half for display and the other for at least 30 slots blogs, and the rest be the same for the bottom with the comments and such.

Is there anyway to do auto-notification?

We should have Alpha for various categories so that we’d get the right attention. :)

    Thanks!

    alphainventions-

Very cool tool, well made and genius.

Are our pages logging a visit for every load that alphainventions makes, or are our visits actual unique visitors who click through to view the blog?

  197. 209 alphainventions November 20, 2008 at 1:29 am

    sunforged

Many people wonder about this. Your blogging platform only counts unique views so your stats don’t get inflated.

If your stats say you have had 50 people come then 50 people came, and not 12, or something to that nature.

I don’t understand this yet, but discovered you through hits after posting a few minutes ago. I’ll take time tomorrow to read through everything and figure out what’s up.

In the meantime – it surely does look like you’ve got a great thing going here. I’ll be sure to pass the word.

  203. 215 Coolbuster November 20, 2008 at 8:00 am

    Thanks.

  204. 216 Amitabh November 20, 2008 at 2:42 pm

After getting 400+ hits last evening, I am pretty much convinced this things work. Hence you are now in my blogroll list.
Not yet able to figure out how it exactly works though. There are some blogs that are always in a reading cycle. And then there are some that are submitted – these get notified to the viewers. How does one get into the ‘permanent’ reading cycle? By including Alphainventions inm the blogroll?
    Hmmmm…..

  205. 217 Vic November 20, 2008 at 4:35 pm

This site is pretty cool and it definitely works. I posted an entry just for this site to let people know that if you want hits and want your site out there than this is the place to go!

  229. 243 Maureen November 23, 2008 at 10:17 am

Until recently, this site has been a wonderful forum for bloggers new and old to put their site ‘out there’to be seen and to learn some of the brilliant technical skills of others.Sadly, there are always those who take advantage of a great idea and they have been sabotaging/ spamming genuine bloggers who wish to showcase their site.
Today is a prime example. For several hours no one has been able to enter the cycle due to one individual. There are others who seem to take great delight in keeping particular bloggers out too. We all know who they are and they should take a good look at themselves because their selfishness may be the demise of this incredible site that Cheru has introduced for all to SHARE.
    Play nice guys!

  230. 244 betday November 23, 2008 at 10:56 am

    great idea!

  231. 245 keyanadrake November 23, 2008 at 11:43 am

This site has been awesome. It’s given me a few new mystery readers, and even a couple of random comments. I was really starting to get excited. Not only was it a way to advertise my writing blog for free, and maybe get some good regular readers, but I could also get a random cross section of blogs for my own reading pleasure.

But for the last week or so it’s nearly impossible to get on the reading cycle enough to even make one count, because certain people are spamming. I’ve had to resort to spamming on occation myself, if only just to get on the damn cycle long enough for someone to see me. Tonight, I cycled and submitted six times within about 20 seconds of each other, and each time the person “bumped” off the cycle was the same guy.

And this has happened before. Oddly enough, it’s always those with some financial connection, someone who is advertising to sell things, or advertise other sites, who I’d guess are probably paying them a commission or something for clicks.

I’m very disapointed. Why don’t those with the money to get advertising the old fashioned way buggar off and let us genuine bloggers have a chance. I get no profit for what I post, and my writing post takes anywhere from two to five days to write. Why should I even bother, when those who aren’t even genuine bloggers get all the time, and us real people get screwed over and left in the cold?

Go somewhere else you money grubbling spammers and give the little guy a go!

realy alpha, inventions! Cooooool, very cool, i like it

Great job man, this site is awesome.

  234. 248 azoasis8 November 23, 2008 at 8:32 pm

I agree with Maureen and Keyanadrake. It’s frustrating to put your name on the cycle list, and it never shows up. For the most part, I think Alpha Inventions is awesome, but it sure would me nice to not have to see the same sites over and over and over, and yours never makes it in the rotation. Maybe some kind of “Limitation” code, where everyone that submits has to wait in line, and you can only submit once every half hour or something. It’s gotten to the point of “Why bother” for me, which is a shame. When everyone gets their time in the rotation, it’s a great thing!

  235. 249 Lily November 23, 2008 at 8:37 pm

I completely agree with Maureen and Keyanadrake. Just 4 or 5 days ago I was getting 200+ referrals– now it is less than 20. I also tried the experiment Keyanadrake tried. I also submitted my site 5 or 6 times in 30 or so seconds and bumped the same 2 or three blogs each time.

Oh well. It was fun while it lasted and I did discover a couple of really cool blogs.

  236. 250 Alpha Inventions November 23, 2008 at 11:15 pm

Hey I caught the bad guy, and if I see him again, then I’ll send him a nice email, and if he does not comply he will be blocked from alphainventions.com for not playing fair. Everything looks good so far.

  237. 251 Robert November 24, 2008 at 12:17 am

    Thanks Cheru!
The Spammers have kept me away for awhile, which has sucked because there has been a TON of injuries in the NHL lately, and we’ve got the scoop, but had trouble passing it along.

But I’ll jump back in the fray and see how things are.

    Your site ROCKS!

Thank you for keeping it real for us little guys.

  238. 252 Alpha Inventions November 24, 2008 at 12:34 am

No problem. I got upset with the guy, but decided to handle it in a nice way. I saw him behaving like the others, and decided to go ahead, and send a nice email telling him about the unfairness he was displaying.

I’m not going to mention his name because we all know who he is.

Thanks for sticking in there guys, the site is still in fetal stages, and I didn’t know it was going to happen. I modified a few things in preparation of the next smart guy, but the site is still the same externally.

I added no restrictions, so notify readers the same as you were.

I’ve also added a new feature earlier than I was supposed to to make up for his actions.

I want to keep this service running the same, and I want it to continue to be free, and I will do what it takes to keep it that way.

  239. 253 mamaneeds2rant November 24, 2008 at 12:45 am

Cheru, you’re awesome. Not only did you come up with a great idea, but you’re fixing the new problems. I was wondering why my hits went from the hundreds to the teens. Thanks for looking into the spammers. If I blogged for profit, you’d get some of the cut.

  240. 254 Alpha Inventions November 24, 2008 at 12:51 am

Thanks Mama for sticking around. Good job, and I wouldn’t turn you down. I’m trying to upgrade from McChickens to McRibs, so everything helps, but seriously as we grow as a community these guys don’t have a chance. I’ll work on something for you guys to control the situation yourselves, and I’ll be sure to make it fair, and on course with what’s already going on. You all shouldn’t suffer at all. Thanks again mom.

Hey guys a friend of ours wrote an article about the sniper:
    http://shadowolff.wordpress.com/

  241. 255 Alpha Inventions November 24, 2008 at 1:08 am

Hey guys if you don’t mind I need your help getting the site value back up to 11 from 10.7

This will get traffic back on course for you all.

See what you did Mr. Sniper?

  242. 256 Colleen November 24, 2008 at 1:32 am

OK. Color me stupid but how do I help get the site value up?

  243. 257 alphainventions November 24, 2008 at 1:39 am

To get the value up, just read, and or leave comments on updated blogs related on their topic. This will also help you get more links pointing at your blog, which will get you a higher ranking in search engines (only if there is a link to your blog in the comments) . It’s a win win for everyone.

Tip: People like, and approve detailed comments more often.

Hey I like this site. While the hits are all at one time if a few people see your site and it sticks then your site can spread a little farther. Keep up the good work.

  246. 260 Robert November 24, 2008 at 2:13 am

I must be doing it wrong.
seems the same as it’s been.
Anyway- did my best to boost your rating-
Spent over an hour reading others blogs and posting, submitting my site- just one hit from Alpha.
    oh well.
Got 3 hits from people whose blogs I’ve commented on, so that works, anyway.
just kept watching the same core group of 3 or 4 blogs go by over and over.
    Hmm.
I guess I was getting bumped before even getting viewed.
I’ll check back in a few days.

Keep up the good work, Cheru.
Site works so well, it’s now really popular!

  247. 261 alphainventions November 24, 2008 at 2:56 am

Hey Robert. You did everything you were supposed to, and Good Job. It takes all of us to help the value go up. Just a little of this from the regulars everyday, and we will be back healthy.

I designed alphainventions.com for the users to control. If you all didn’t notice.

Thank you for your time spent adding value. We give it up to you, and Good Job. Keep it up.

Give it up for Robert, and everyone else who helps, because people like this is the reason for your traffic.

Your work and your perseverance are really starting to show! This is the “hottest gig” where you can get your blog shown.

Since the site has matured, I have a couple of suggestions. You have a HUGE readership. Now you can put some restrictions – so that everyone has a chance. I’ve noticed in the past few days that only a few are dominating the airtime.

    1) Ban all commercial sites; or create a separate one for them.

    2) Limit the times one can be on a rotation to once/half hour. There are lots of interesting blogs that don’t get the airtime they need because of greedy spammers (to your site).

    3) You came up with the magic of this idea, perhaps you can magically fix the spammers OUT of your site! People read your site because it seems a FAIR venue. I think when folks realize that your site is often dominated by spammers, they will leave. You have worked too hard for this to happen!

    4) Congrats for a wonderful site in the past — and hopefully, the future!

  258. 274 loelbarr November 24, 2008 at 10:25 pm

I admit I’ve never heard of alphainventions, but when I just checked the stats on my blog, I saw a bunch of people came to it from here!
I didn’t do anything…do I have to do anything? Whatever…thank you for whatever it was you did. This seems like a great idea!

  259. 275 lily November 24, 2008 at 10:29 pm

I second all of MaryLouise’s suggestions. I don’t see the slightest difference yet, since the spammers were banned. It is the same handful of blgs coming up in the cycle no matter how many times I submit my site. I am still getting fewer than 20 referrals per day. I am about to throw in the towel and go back to obscurity.

  260. 276 alphainventions November 24, 2008 at 10:53 pm

Wait. Tonight I will include a second slot for those who have been bumped, so everyone gets a chance to be shown for a decent amount of time.

I just killed another sniper, and he has to pay $49.00 to get his privileges back each time he plays unfair. I don’t think he’s coming back anytime soon. If he does I’ll use the money to buy more traffic for you all (targeted traffic).

    Cheru-
    another hat tip:

Your “notify me” feature alerted me to a ticket selling site stealing content from My site (www.bucketofpucks.com) AND multiple Others from another sports blog dump I post at.

The site has now been shut down, but had been doing this for awhile apparently.

    Thanks!
As a result, I’m not even submitting my site today, just gonna work on getting that number up.
C’mon folks – click & comment – internet karma will return the same to you…

    Hi Cheru,

Thank you for your wonderful site. I am a newbie at blogging as this is my very first blog and only been running for like a week now. I finally got it to look nice and have been furiously adding content although this may take a while.

There have been some fabulous sites I have seen and do try to catch them to leave a comment.

I must admit that I also fell into the trap of not being able to see my site go through the reading cycle due to the commercial sites continuously bumping me and got a little peeved.

For now, I’m just concentrating on updating the content as stated and looking at other sites for ideas.

Keep up the good work and apologies to those I may have bumped in the past.

    Malice :)

I have added a second slot to the reading cycle. This should help us see who’s bumping who, and provide a lot more traffic to you all.

Let’s try it out. Thanks for the feedback. Keep it up!

    Cheru,
you have to be a guy who loves a challenge, so here goes: the word on the street is that people are using alpha for commercial promotions: is there a way to restrict repeaters, so that everyone gets the chance for a slice of the 24hour pie and no-one gets to eat half the frigging cake?

  304. 320 Alpha Inventions November 27, 2008 at 9:52 pm

I just fixed it by giving the good guys a chance to monitor the cycle in real-time.

I want to see if you can all work togather to control alphainventions.com it’s yours, and if we all pitch in to keep quality, then we shouldn’t run into problems.

The site was designed to be controlled by the user, and help bloggers & readers connect as fast as possible, and I’m going to make it possible now.

  305. 321 Malice November 27, 2008 at 10:57 pm

Someone raised the issue in an earlier post in here about how you bump yourself. I was just looking at the bump detector and I supposedly bumped myself which is impossible as I wasn’t even in the screen

If someone else is putting my URL through the cycle, well thank you very much, however, I would appreciate it if you would let me put my own URL in.

Another thanks to Cheru, I have finally reached the 3000 hits mark with my blog and wouldn’t have been able to do it without this service.

PS, I love the bump detector.

    Cheers
    Malice :)

I’ve met some great people through Alpha, however, it’s such a shame that some bloggers don’t have the courtesy to respond to comments you have made even when you take the time to do so for people who have complained they don’t get any comments. Oh well, guess they are in it only for the numbers, not for networking and socialising.

  314. 330 Robert November 28, 2008 at 6:40 am

    Folks- Malice is right!

  315. 331 Amitabh November 28, 2008 at 6:47 am

The Real Time Bump page is more fun to watch than the main blog. You can see that the laws of marginal utility stepping in as more and more bloggers discover Alphainventions. Blogs are getting replaced very rapidly, reducing any time in the reading cycle to near zero. So unless CJ has more innovations up his sleeves …

  318. 334 shadowshift November 28, 2008 at 8:39 am

An idea: I think we all feel sorry to have to bump someone out of the cycle just to be seen. But we feel especially bad if it’s someone we’ve developed sympathies for through exchanging comments, emails. My suggestion is this: Can you (Cheru) write code that will allow a one click reversal of the bumping.
A bumps B. Then B(put back by A) bumps A. This would save the necessity of waiting for the anti-spam to allow you to input your friend’s URL.

I’m not sure I understand alphainventions.com anymore. Now, when I add my blog, I realise that I’m instantly bumped out. Instead of me bumping out another blog, as was usually the case when I was adding my blog in the reading cycle, I am now not even added to the reading cycle!
Also, what is a “good” guy and what are “bad” guys? Am I being considered a “bad” guy, and is that the reason why I can’t add my blog to the reading cycle any longer? If that is so, what should I do to be one of the “good” guys? ;)
It seems now to be a club of happy fews protecting each other against “intruding” “Bad guys.” Or am I mistaken?

  323. 339 yf November 28, 2008 at 3:08 pm

    Nope, you are not.

  325. 341 quitebaffled November 28, 2008 at 3:15 pm

Maybe I’m still a little groggy this morning, but are we now on a “first-in, last-out” basis, with more or less immediate bumping out? Alpha has brought me many visitors, but it “seems” like I can’t get in for more than a few seconds anymore…

I don’t know, with the new system I get 0 readers, and my life-time expectancy in the reading cycle is max. 3 seconds. I’m about to give it up.
Also, I still cannot read any windows live blog since they automatically redirect me from alphainventions.com to the windows live login page.

  328. 344 chuffinghog November 28, 2008 at 3:53 pm

I agre with Frank, this new “Bump” and “Protect” feature has made Alphainventions less than useless to those of us outside the clique.

As recently as yesterday I got a lot of traffic from here – today I’m lasting a few seconds before being bumped.

My time is too valuable to spend playing silly games like this. If I can get my blog into the reading cycle, this site is brilliant, but if I can’t, I’ll rely on other sources of traffic.

I’m off for one last try.

  329. 345 shadowshift November 28, 2008 at 4:03 pm

I believe you (Cheru)are trying to make the site work more fairly and improve relationships among bloggers so don’t take my questions about the recent changes to heart.

I don’t really understand how that “protect” button works. It may be a fine thing but it’s not what I meant. In my recent alphainventions comment> what I meant was a button that reverses the process if you accidentally bump your friend:

I am blog A. Friend is blog B.

    1. A bumps B (by accident)
    2. “Reverse” button restores B(friend), removes A (me)

This may be more difficult to achieve that what you’ve done. For one thing, the turn over is often so rapid now, that A might have only a second to press the reverse button while he’s in the loop.

Has this bump detector somehow increased the volume of traffic, or are people just having more fun playing bump the bad guy (which could be everyone except you). These tools might need a better explanation than the one I gave in my recent piece because I’m confused about how they work. And can’t see yet how they’ve helped.

One of the recent commenters has discussed a salient point: Is this
focus on labeling a blog “good” or “bad” , “friend” or “”non-friend”
leading to a community of a few buddies protecting each other, the rest be damned? Again I can’t yet see how or whether this can improve things. The fact that everyone can vote “friend” or “not friend” may be the democratic way but it’s scary to think of the behind the scenes maneuvering that this will encourage to gain “friends”.

  330. 346 Charity November 28, 2008 at 4:04 pm

I’m getting less traffic than before as well. My main concern is that people are putting urls in that aren’t blogs – etsy shops and articles they’ve written and that kind of thing. It’s annoying and unfair and I even say that as someone who has an etsy shop. Is there any way of making sure that only blogs get posted?

  331. 347 alphainventions November 28, 2008 at 4:08 pm

World war 4 is over, and the bump detector is gone. Some liked it, and most hated it.

R.I.P bump detector. That was the dumbest thing I’ve ever built.

I must admit I was dying with laughter when I saw humble bloggers turning into savages, and protectors.

Hell broke loose in alphainventions.com causing chaos, and paranoia
    between bloggers.

I think I deserve at least a little laugh. The real laughter didn’t set in until the protect button was added.

If you liked the bump detector, let me know.

  332. 348 chuffinghog November 28, 2008 at 4:25 pm

Wow! Thanks AlphaInventions. You deserve the award for the most responsive webmaster on the planet. No sooner do we comment than you act.

Just for the record, I think the “warzone” feature sucks.

  333. 349 Scope November 28, 2008 at 4:28 pm

It’s ok to try new things. I don’t know whose bad guy or who good guy, or anybody think I am an angel or demon. But the detector does help save time to know when the blog got bumped out.

But… I think any chap who is smart will quickly know how to utilise the detector. Once you open up 3 windows and another to watch the detector, you can quickly ‘bump’ in the moment you are out.

That’s why I was playing this ‘world war 4′ because I got free time today. LOL~ And some people immediately got bumped out. And started to collaborate… and ends up like in Ping.sg… where a few ganged up to play god. Not good. I am glad things go back to normal, but I had fun. LOL~

Every system’s got a loophole. You did the right thing to back step. Otherwise, Alpha will become a few pple’s game. And all of us will go elsewhere.

  334. 350 Alpha Inventions November 28, 2008 at 4:30 pm

Thanks. The goals was to bring each other together, but the bump wars turned the fun alphainventions.com community into an internet ghetto full of shady bloggers helping only those that communicate with them.

I had to stop it, and I hope thing return to normal.

    Still chuckling.

  335. 351 shadowshift November 28, 2008 at 4:41 pm

I would like to propose a rating system that does not incorporate the concept of “friends”. No rating system is perfect, but let’s aim for one which may lead to more objective preferences than the “friend or not” criteria presently employed.

We could have a list of perhaps five qualities that a blog has. And grade each blog A, B , C, or D on each quality (numerical ratings one to five, or one to ten are other possibilities). I call this the turkey scale: A=very, B=moderately, C=not very, D=drop this turkey

Qualities to be rated might include:

    1. Appealing to the eye (rate A, B, C, or D)

    2. Entertaining

    3. Informative

    4. Uses the latest pro-interactive widgets

    4. Makes you want to leap for joy

    5. Gives you a stomachache

    6. One dose before bedtime is better than a sleeping pill

    etc.

  336. 352 shadowshift November 28, 2008 at 4:55 pm

Sorry, I started to confuse qualities and rating grades toward the end of my last piece. –Didn’t have more morning coffee yet. You know how it is.

  337. 353 Scope November 28, 2008 at 4:59 pm

Actually, Sohu has a pretty system for celebrities. They got a list of blogs and whenever a celebrity blog, the blog on the list shines indicating notification.

But it was static since only a list of fixed stars got the privilege.

The point is, all of us want our blogs up in the circulation, and frankly, who in the hack would want to waste time helping other’s blog to pump his/her blog out? So if we can have that circulation in a list similar to Sohu’s but the blogs can be listed by notification and ‘move’ along from bottom to top in a (say) 10X10 blog slots… More people will be happier, isn’t it?

Each slot will have like 2.5 cm X 3 cm display of blog.

    Or…

If we are going maintain the current operation, we can try to get people to register their blogs, then restrict all of us’s notification at (say) 5 minute interval. This help at least to get those who can’t play whole day get featured for a while instead of being bumped off the next second. And with registration, nobody can cheat but target-bumping those they dislike by using multiple URLs, even URLs may not belong to them. So people can still notify and play, but in order and everyone have 5 min interval chance.

With this 5 min interval, we have a few slots more for blog display rotation. And people can use more time to visit those blog they find interesting.

Everyone’s taste of what is interesting is different. Let the users decide themselves and work the most out of Alpha.

Do do as you see fit. :)

  338. 354 shadowshift November 28, 2008 at 5:20 pm

Scope’s recent comment reminded me a nagging question. When a blog gets bumped shouldn’t the bumper go at the end of the line and not replace the one being bumped. Say there are six blogs in the cycle.
Number one in the queue, the one that’s been there the longest get bumped. Not the one presently on screen unless that happens to be the one there longest. The bumper becomes number six. Number two becomes mumber one etc. All moving up one place.

If this is the way it works now, forgive me. It appears (or did last time I looked) that the bumper bumps the one on screen which could be any one from the newest to the oldest submission. That’s not logical.

  339. 355 shadowshift November 28, 2008 at 5:32 pm

I’m not sure what Scope means by restrict registrant’s at or to 5 minute notification intervals. Does he mean you can only “play” during the five minutes after registering? Or is this a permanent registration that allows your five minutes of play per hour? Please translate somebody. But it gave me an idea.

Scopes idea for registration is sound. This could be the simplest of applications, just name and email address but what it does is separate the returners from someone who just wandered onto the site by accident. For registrants there could be a guarantee of 5 minutes or ten minutes per day of air time.

  340. 356 Scope November 28, 2008 at 5:34 pm

@Shadowshift: Hi! Actually a five min interval can take care of your concern, or if needs be, Randomise the order like the songs in MP3 on shuffle mode.

But I observe (dunno for you guys and gals) that unless you clear your cache, once a body notifies at time T and his blog actually (say) got into the 6th slot of your computer, you’d see it eventually if you wait enough. Or if you don’t see it, at time T, it might be 1st slot in another’s computer.

And if Alpha’s participant base is huge enough… it shouldn’t be a problem.

Frankly, Scope is all here for fun, hits is not that important and if I did bump any out, it’s not intentional. ^.^

  341. 357 symonsezwlky November 28, 2008 at 6:02 pm

If there is a true reader cycle, then how come for the last two hours that “The Zoo” has been the first blog that shows up? Each day there always seems to be one blog that is in the first position or somethimes first two positions. On Thanksgiving night it was a blog with some recipe. How does this thing work/

Love this! Great idea! Our hats are off to you! Thank you!

  343. 359 shadowshift November 28, 2008 at 6:30 pm

Hi Scope. I’m like you in one respect at least. All the bumping I’ve done in ten weeks here has been accidental. I don’t know who bump because I’m not watching the viewer 99% of the time I’m on. This is partly because I have so many eggs to juggle. But also because I don’t yet understand how opening 4 screens helps you watch things (and play wargames) better.

You’re saying that blog A is in different positions on different computers? How is that? Don’t understand.

What I see when I do look is disturbing. Some blogs repeat very quickly, and this when it’s obviously very busy. How can one blog be in position 1 and position 4? Different URL (dupication) of course can allow this but I don’t think that’s the case in the ones I’ve observed.

  344. 360 shadowshift November 28, 2008 at 6:46 pm

I wrote the following in my “5:20 PM” comment (9:20 AM my time)

“When a blog gets bumped shouldn’t the bumper go at the end of the line and not replace the one being bumped. Say there are six blogs in the cycle….” And I said that this behavior is not logical.

Apology: It was I who wasn’t thinking logically when I wrote that. Yes the bumper goes to the end of the line which pushes everybody up one slot–does it really work this way?-which of course means that the number one blog, the one presently in the viewer gets killed.

This doesn’t explain how a blog can be number 1 and 3, or 2 and 4 in the cycle. I have seen this pattern many times. Is it just blog duplication?

  345. 361 alexandriacarpetone November 28, 2008 at 6:47 pm

Can’t say I know how it works… but I like it!
    Kinda like… never mind.
    Gracias for the cool service.

  346. 362 Lily November 28, 2008 at 6:48 pm

I am completely baffled. Really. Now what is going on with “bump” detector? What does it mean to protect someone? Why am I invited to join a chatroom only to see some blog or another?

I guess all you more technical types get it. I don’t. I have added new content twice today– not a single referral. I have “notified” my blog. Don’t see it. I give up. I officially embrace obscurity as of right now.

Thanks for linking to my blog!

  348. 364 bloggingexperiments November 28, 2008 at 8:32 pm

Why is SiteMeter not picking up the increased traffic on my site from alphainventions? I think it has picked some of them because there is a definite increase, but the majority is flying by under the radar.

Also…are you supposed to notify alphainventions with each new post … OR … do you just notify of ai of your blog the one time and it automatically catches your updates?

I wish there was a page that told you exactly HOW TO USE alphainventions, not just what it is.

    Abi

  349. 365 hcurci November 28, 2008 at 9:04 pm

I am totally confussed with this new bumping stuff you are doing????I went from hundres of hits pre day to less than 100 hits per day????

Don’t know how some select few are doing it…but dominating the flip of the sites is uncool. Alpha Inventions is a great idea…but obviously, some know how to get around the “idea” of the site. Baaah Humbug to them :) Equal rights for bloggers everywhere, i say!

  351. 367 writeasrain November 28, 2008 at 9:37 pm

Actually, I meant equal opportunities for bloggers everywhere! Sorry for the mis-type.

This is an awesome application you have. I’m quite often on my blog in real time throughout the day and early evening but this could help me catch a lot more readers. Right now I average around 250 uniques a day and around 25 regular returns readers and commenters (the blog is exactly one year old and caters mostly to a lit crowd).

  356. 372 Cory Cartwright November 29, 2008 at 3:20 am

Is there an explanation of how exactly this works?

  357. 373 Scope November 29, 2008 at 3:36 am

@Shadowshift: To explain my observation. Say you got 3 chaps bumping at time T, then chap 1 was already on Alpha before chap 2, then chap 1 bumped chap 3 at time T-1, and his computer shows a set of blogs with chap 3’s in slot 1.

However, maybe the cache was not cleared, when he notifies as chap 2 does at time T, chap 3′ blogis still slot 1 in chap 1’s computer at time T as in time T-1, and at time T itself, Chap 2’s in slot 1 in other bumpers’ computer who notify their blogs at time T, and chap 2’s blog becomes slot 1 for people who notify at time T+1.

That was what I meant, because if I don’t ever clear my cache, I seldom or never see new blogs in slot 1. LOL~

Which means, in real, somebody should be registering somebody’s blog in slot 1, which addresses your concern. In a large number over a long period of time, the more you notify, the more your blog is likely to appear in others’ slot 1 stucked in a cache.

That’s just my 2cts from observation so far to share with you guys and gals.

    Scope.

  361. 377 94stranger November 29, 2008 at 3:08 pm

I entered my blog in the cycle and was told that I had bumped someone out of it. I watched for four or five minutes without seeing my blog appear. The same four or five blogs were going round and round. I then entered my blog again and got a message saying that I had bumped someone out of the cycle. The blog I was supposed to have bumped out had not appeared on the screen. If I can bump someone out who apparently has not been featured, whilst the same four or five blogs continue to go round and round, how does this work – is there some kind of prioritising system that we don’t know about?

  362. 378 94stranger November 29, 2008 at 3:11 pm

10 minutes later: the same ones are still going round. Well?

  363. 379 94stranger November 29, 2008 at 3:36 pm

approximately fifteen minutes later and the same blogs (except one new one I think) are still going round. As far as I know, mine hasn’t appeared on the screen, yet my stats have recorded 8 visits – if my blog has not appeared on the screen, who are the visitors?

Cheru, everyone has praised you for this amazing thing you’ve put together. Maybe now is the time we see if you are a big enough man to fess up and admit that all is not entirely well with alpha: after all, I think you don’t lose kudos with anyone for being subject to human error like the rest of us – if there are ghosts in the machine, we would like to know: well, I suppose I’m not the only one.
    take care

  364. 380 Alpha Inventions November 29, 2008 at 4:28 pm

No trick, and no gimmicks allowed here. You site was read before being bumped. By the time you go see if it’s in the cycle it’s been read, and bumped. Nothing magical.

  365. 381 pakalert November 29, 2008 at 5:17 pm

What is AIID# ? Why this restriction now?

  366. 382 CUS Publicity Chair November 29, 2008 at 5:20 pm

Cheru, I don’t think you have made a mistakes that you need to confess (odd thing to say 94stranger). But something strange is happening. Apart from the large number of commercial sites, all I ever see are the same handful of sites going round and round. A week ago, I had two hundred referrals, everytime I posted. Now, I rarely get more than 20. Is the sheer success of the site the reason that an individual blog (mine, at least!) is seeing such a drop in visitors?

  367. 383 symonsezwlky November 29, 2008 at 5:21 pm

Ditto. The AIID feature wasn’t here an hour ago and now its there but with no explanation. I’m guessing that this is now a fee site, which is fine but how does one pay and how much?

  368. 385 fishclamor November 29, 2008 at 5:27 pm

hey, help us out and tell us what is the aaid number thing. i love your site and suddenly can’t use it. can you assist?

    –fishclamor.wordpress.com

  369. 386 alphainventions November 29, 2008 at 5:27 pm

Good job CUS Publicity Chair. Yes the success of alphainventions.com is the reason the vet bloggers are getting fewer hits, and I’m working as hard as possible to make it to where everyone can at least get to 200 – 1000 hits a day. This will take a few months.

An AIID# is for those who want to stay in the reading cycle longer. Don’t worry you can still submit your blog free by not entering anything in the AIID# field.

Great job on the feedback you all. Keep it up.

  370. 387 artpredator November 29, 2008 at 6:12 pm

it’s content. as cheru pointed out, people have to be interested in your content for you to get readers from alphainventions or any other way. here are some observations based on two blogs which i have put in the cycle:

    http://artpredator.wordpress.com

when i had a post about burning man, tons of people checked out the blog from alpha. my post about the cool night skies this week got tons of traffic also. my other blog:

    http://winepredator.wordpress.com

which i have put in the cycle more since i am trying to build traffic to my new wine oriented blog, has fewer people check it out. people just aren’t as interested in wine. so i chose to do a sticky post about wine blogging and blogging in general thinking there’s be more interest in that post and saw a little more alpha traffic.

you gotta have content that people want to stop and read.

a final observation: are you reading other people’s blogs and commenting? every since blog that i have commented on that i have found from alpha has commented on my blog. unfortunately, it seems no one else from alpha has commented but that’s ok too.

so if you want people to stop the cycle and read and comment, you have to participate by writing interesting content AND by reading and commenting.

sorry for the lecture…thanks again cheru!

thank you, mr alpha inventions. i am going to have to read your explanation a few times to puzzle this out but bless your heart for trying something new.

  381. 398 94stranger November 30, 2008 at 12:30 am

Just off to comment on art predator, but before I go –

O.K. Cheru, would you as the main man clear up one more puzzle for me: how the hell can there be four/five blogs going round and round for at least 20 minutes? Are these guys just sitting there firing bumps every ten seconds or what? If so, would you be up for figuring a system which rejects you if you try to click more than once in 24 hours, or whatever frequency you work out – is that do-able? Would be a whole lot more fun for the viewer, that’s for sure.

  382. 399 artpredator November 30, 2008 at 12:54 am

that’s a great observation and suggestion, 94 stranger! here’s hoping cheru has a solution! (and thanks for stopping by my blog and commenting!)

  383. 400 keyanadrake November 30, 2008 at 2:46 am

I’m still having a difficult time even getting on the cycle long enough before someone bumps me off. I just put myself in the cycle twice in a row, and I went up once. People just seem to be bumping others off so quickly that there isn’t time for it to be loaded up on the reading cycle.

It’s becoming frustrating. I have to submit it almost at spam proportions just to get on the reading cycle, and I don’t want to be a spammer, because it’s the spammers that stop other people from being able to get on… all it does is make the situation worse, not better.

Maybe there’s a way of limiting submissions to one a minute or one every two minutes or something? It needs to slow down a little, one shouldn’t be bumped so quickly by other submissions that one doesn’t have the chance to even get viewed. I don’t mean to sound like a five year old but it’s simply not fair.

  384. 401 Malice November 30, 2008 at 9:44 am

I had exactly the same problem yesterday. Easiest way around it and to avoid getting callouses on your click finger is to subscribing to the read cycle. Works for me :)

  387. 404 Alease Michelle November 30, 2008 at 3:03 pm

Thanks for creating a great site. I noticed that your site had visited and I was curious. Glad I did.

  388. 405 lenfirewood November 30, 2008 at 7:49 pm

Malice has a good point and if I may say so there is perhaps an undue amount of whining going on here by those who have already benefited from a basic service that is still FREE OF CHARGE. If there are those who want to get into the cycle more often and without blistering their button fingers – then they can go ahead and DONATE – end of story from my pov. To me (and believe you me I am still very much a novice at this ‘blogging’ thing!) getting ‘hits’ for your site is only part of the process another part which I believe is probably even more important is updating the site with interesting content. I hope none of you think I am getting at you with any of my words – I also went through a bit of a ‘furball’ phase i.e. just getting obsessed with get as many ‘hits’ as I could as if THAT was the whole goal of blogging (I realise now it simply isn’t!). I also went through a phase where I was ’spamming’ the cycles for the sheer bloody SPORT of it and having a bit of a laugh (that’s a personality flaw that I have – maybe one day I’ll actually GROW UP or something!). Now I am much more relaxed about it – I now spend MORE time updating and putting in new content than I do trying to pump up hits, I am also slowly learning about other forms of networking outside of alpha and this too is beginning to bring in traffic of it’s own.
So in summary let’s just be careful not to put any demands on Cheru as far as we are getting a free service from him – I think what he has already done for us is fantastic and am grateful for what he has already done for us all.
So see you in the next ‘furball’ and happy hunting!! ;-) lol

  389. 406 artpredator November 30, 2008 at 8:25 pm

Malice, not sure if this helps, but last night (Pacific Time) it seemed like your blog showed every few blogs–with some sort of ringtone (which I thought was obnoxious but I’m not hearing today).

BTW< I love seeing your blog roll past! Every day it seems like you are doing something new visually phenomenol!

  390. 407 artpredator November 30, 2008 at 8:30 pm

Cheru, I am wondering if there is anything you can do about the obnoxious banner ads on the windows live blogs?

It would make watching the blogs roll by so much more pleasurable!

I am having trouble using Alpha Inventions. It is not letting me put my name in though I am still being read somehow. But I am only getting one or two hits when I used to get at least five or six in a minute. I also can’t go to the other blogs because it is not listing them and that was one of my favorite parts, checking out who else was out there and I did leave comments on many people’s blogs that I bumped. So what is going on here?

  398. 415 shadowshift December 1, 2008 at 10:19 am

Suggestion: A forum with multiple threads to replace this comment scramble.

THanks Alpha Inventions. Really made traffic heavier.cool!

  400. 417 davidwills December 1, 2008 at 3:34 pm

What is the value of AI all about then? I see the number going down,it started out at 11.25 now it’s down to 10.02. Should I call the fire brigade?

  401. 419 alphainventions December 1, 2008 at 5:30 pm

The value of alphainventions.com reflects the amount of blogs being read, and commented on. When it gets below 9.5 blog notifications will be disabled until it reaches 10. So you all know what to do. Especially the people who come everyday.

Reading, and leaving relevant comments can only help you get more traffic, but so many people are too focused on submitting a blog for readers. There are several different ways to get more readers from alphainventions.com so use em’ guys.

You all have been doing a great job, so keep it up.

  402. 420 Scope December 1, 2008 at 5:54 pm

Actually for the value’s sake, we might have to ban those blogs which… (eg) many Myspace bloggers don’t have conducive commenting system whereby often… you need to be another myspace registered user to comment.

And I sometimes even see WordPress blog registering page onboard?!

For blogger.com users, can you at least please allow anonymous or a blank for URL to take comments?

And some people consider people who go around commenting ’spammers’. LOL~ Here, a change of perception is necessary, isn’t it?

Just some views from oldie Scope.

  403. 421 energizeyourself December 1, 2008 at 6:24 pm

    AlphaInventions is awesome! Thank you

  404. 422 Colleen December 1, 2008 at 7:22 pm

I don’t know what to say about the commenting. I suspect, though I don’t know, that the drop in people commenting on other blogs reflects the limited number of blogs in the cycle. I see the same ones over and over again. Most of them are commercial sites in which I have zero interest. I simply will not take the time to comment on them. What would I say?

  405. 423 blacknright December 1, 2008 at 8:29 pm

Well I hope it gets enabled soon, I am missing learning about new blogs. 407. 425 alphainventions December 1, 2008 at 9:29 pm

@quitebaffled Good job. Keep it up. This is a good example of a good blogger you all. It does not take that long to read a post and leave your input. Most people look for things they are only interested in.

A basketball lover couldn’t tell you the scores for football games unless he was versatile.

Take out a few seconds to make yourself interested in something new. There are 24 hours in a day, and a lot to learn.

Good job to those who have taken out time to provide feedback on blogs may it be good or bad. Everyone needs feedback.

  408. 426 Malice December 1, 2008 at 9:49 pm

My general rule of thumb is, first thing in the morning to spend about half hour or so replying to blogs and leaving comments been doing it since day one and that is what develops proper contacts and friends. It’s like the old saying, “What you give, you shall receive”
    Cheers

  409. 427 artpredator December 1, 2008 at 9:50 pm

I agree it would be great to get some of the blatantly commercial sites filled with ads out of the cycle. Also, to eliminate the MSN windows blogs which have the obnoxious banner ads across the top.

  410. 428 blacknright December 1, 2008 at 11:23 pm

Since everything on my end is disabled please leave your address to your blog as a text link. I may not be able to click on it but I can at least copy and paste it into my browser window. That way I can still visit you guys. Thanks.

  411. 429 Colleen December 2, 2008 at 12:48 am

My major problem with Windows blogs is that you can’t leave a comment without signing up for an account. I just won’t do it. I don’t need it; I have enough pass words and user ids as it is. I agree too that the banner ads are lousy.

  412. 430 Amitabh December 2, 2008 at 4:19 am

I just now came across a blog that is password protected. Why have a blog in AI that one cannot even read?

  413. 431 Amitabh December 2, 2008 at 6:09 am

I was wondering if it is possible to have a queue of blogs (say, a buffer 15 deep) in the reading cycle. That way a blog does not get bumped instantaneously and will remain in the reading cycle till the 16th blog bumps it out.
    Just a thought!

What an awesome website! I’ve gotten more hits on my blog in one day from your site. Thanks for thinking outside the box.

I was all ready to comment on DigitalDreamDoor.com’s list of the 100 greatest war movies…but it isn’t a blog! So I couldn’t! What’s worse, they don’t even rate Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence in the top 100….They may not know what they are doing.

    Keep commenting everyone!

    good site, man!

  419. 437 naturemyway December 2, 2008 at 8:32 pm

Alpha Inventions is not perfect of course, but it has increased my blog traffic by a factor of 10 (at least). Comments are always welcome, and I appreciate those who have already done so. Not all Blogs interest me, but I try to leave a comment on on the ones that do. It feels good to know that someone in the big “out there” is interested in your corner of the world.

  420. 438 helenahildur December 2, 2008 at 10:46 pm

  422. 440 94stranger December 2, 2008 at 10:58 pm

    Hey Len,
I agree. have had a bit of a guilty conscience for carping about what is – as you say – a free service, and in any case, I’d swap a zillion non-commenting drones for one commenter, any day.

Cheru, I think you done brilliant. Ignore the moaners (including me) – all part of life’s rich pattern, as they say.

  423. 441 soupisnotafingerfood December 3, 2008 at 2:13 am

Hey there, cool – I got 5 hits from your site yesterday – will check it out more when I have more time but till then, thanks for this and cheers!

Thank you for this service. It is wonderful and works fabulously in a short time. Good luck on your future endeavors with this project.

  428. 446 dhconcerts December 3, 2008 at 10:26 am

Hi Cheru, I’ve seen your URL listed in my referrers list a few times. A friend said she’s seen it too. She said the pages seem to flash by on your site, and she figured out you have some kind of real-time program that captures blog activity. So tonight, a few minutes ago, I decided to look in on this site. I’m still looking around. Thanks for what you’re doing. :)

  429. 447 sangitapawar25 December 3, 2008 at 12:34 pm

    I´m impress it´s a fantatic tool!!

  434. 452 bovineradio December 3, 2008 at 11:59 pm

On the one hand it does seem like a really good tool. On the other hand the quality of visitors to my site is more fleeting than the usual way I market my site. I think it might appeal more to surfers with attention deficit disorder rather than the more discerning viewer who stays on your blog and actually reads / uses it. It’s quite good for a short term ego-fix, but less so for loyal visitors… Having said that, I’ve had 400% more viewers than normal!

Did you see the AI value? 36.558139534884 Wow! CJ should be happy with all of us!

  436. 454 Xan Skinner December 4, 2008 at 12:47 am

The blogs seem really interesting, but they change so fast that they switch before I can tell what each one is about or whether I’d like to pause it and read more! Could you slow it down a bit, like maybe require at least a certain number of seconds (maybe 5 or 10 seconds) on the screen before it switches to the next blog? (I do have high speed internet and I read fast, so page loading or comprehension is not the problem.)

  437. 455 hollytraveling December 4, 2008 at 2:31 am

Very cool, but I have no idea how I got added on here. Could I have just gotten picked up through some computer-cookie (I am so not technical) thing or did someone add my site? I guess it really doesn’t matter in the long run, just curious. I was really surprised to see my traffic jumping out of control.

  438. 456 pcadams December 4, 2008 at 4:05 am

Let’s hear it for Alphainventions! Awesome tool to give us all more exposure to each other. Bring us all to greater awareness of the web of life!

  439. 457 bridgecatering December 4, 2008 at 3:22 pm

Hooray for alphainventions. It helps the blog hits tremendously! We’re at 34 hits and it’s not even 10:30 AM.
Now if only the people searching for Atlanta catering or Christmas Catering in Atlanta looked at the blog, that would be even better…

  440. 458 Jennie December 4, 2008 at 4:55 pm

Wow — I don’t quite get it but I got like 83 hits in the past hour on my blog — I was stunned… So, for whatever it is you’re doing out there… my personal thanks!

Cool stuff, you may have already thought of this but it would be cool if you could do this based on categories somehow that way it will be more targeted when viewing the updated blogs.

  445. 464 paleonerd December 5, 2008 at 5:37 am

Is it possible to increase the slide settings. I would to like read more (glance more) abt the blogs that flash by. Otherwise its a nice tool for increase ur hits!!!

This is the hayabusa of all increase-your-hits !!!

    0-1000 and still counting!!!

  448. 467 Media Owners Hub December 5, 2008 at 8:43 am

    Can’t believe it.

After days of absence, I submitted my blog earlier and I got “Bumped” immediately.

Is this becoming a worse problem now?

And as what some of the bloggers had mentioned earlier, why is it that some of the same blogs kept revolving while newer blogs can’t be added to the cycle for sharing? Or at least enjoys a minute more in the cycle?

And worst is, there are people who are submitting non-updated blogs or “personal private blogs” when in the cycle, it only shows a “Log-In” page.

    Can these be improved?

  449. 468 Scope December 5, 2008 at 10:12 am

Hi! I am preparing an article to write on Alphainvention. If anyone or Alpha has any materials to contribute, just left a comment at my blog. I am aware of many great bumpers here and the many hits we got, and there are still some puzzles here. Me too. I don’t really understand Alpha except that it really looks great. So if anyone would like to explain the workings and such for the new posting, just shoot yeah~

And to the great bumpers at Alpha:
    Merry X’mas! And yeah…
    Don’t forget MY gifts!

    LOL~ LOL~ LOL~

Can somebody donate $10,000,000 or… ok, 10,000,000 hits would do as well. LOL~

  450. 469 lucifer December 5, 2008 at 12:46 pm

  451. 470 Paula December 5, 2008 at 1:08 pm

I found AlphaInventions popping up in my stats and came to see what it was.

It’s a great idea, I’ve already bookmarked a few blogs I wouldn’t have known about otherwise when they came up. However, the same few blogs have been revolving for well over an hour now, despite the fact many others have been added to the reading list. Maybe this is glitch you wern’t aware of?

Fabulous idea though, I hope it works out for you.

  452. 471 deb December 5, 2008 at 3:32 pm

This is a great idea … I’m not sure I’m doing it right, though. I keep looking & never see my blog come up. Do I need to keep adding it over & over until it comes up?

There are some cool blogs here, that’s for sure.

  453. 472 nitajoy December 5, 2008 at 8:03 pm

This is FAB Thanks so much!

  454. 473 Vixel December 5, 2008 at 9:10 pm

Alpha Inventions is a truly great resource! Rest assured I’ll be donating and / or subscribing after all my Xmas shopping is over and done with!

  455. 474 Colleen December 5, 2008 at 11:48 pm

I am *really* puzzled today! One of my blogs has been in the reading cycle for the last 40 minutes, along with a half-dozen others, while another blog that I updated has not made it in at all (so far as I can tell). That last has been the norm for awhile now, so what I am really asking is whether this lengthy stay in the cycle is a glitch that Cheru needs to know about.

  456. 475 Alpha Inventions December 5, 2008 at 11:56 pm

I secretly added a feature that will let you stay in the reading cycle a little longer, and I’ve also increased traffic for the subscribers.

  457. 476 Scope December 6, 2008 at 1:34 am

Is there a prize for the right guess…? I am wondering what secret feature we have got for the community. ^.^

And I thought only banks have secrecy act. LOL~ That’s a joke. As long as it works, it should be fine.

I had an idea for a way to improve this site. Or maybe its been done and I just don’t know where to look. You need an option to see recent blogs that have been displayed. Several times I have seen blog posts that look interesting but not clicked them fast enough to catch the reload. Which leaves me waiting hoping to catch another glimpse of them before I give up.

  466. 485 timothymillar December 7, 2008 at 4:51 am

Really Nice, I know in time you will get it all figured out so I am being patient and letting the vultures get it out of their system, I have noticed several of the so-called blogs are not comment ready, That is their loss. Search engines look for comments and visits so both can be beneficial, I have increased my Search Engine traffic because of this site and I appreciate it tremendously. Have a Wonderful Day, “The Leprechaun”

    Ok – Feedback!
    1) I submitted my blog – solvecases – a few times and saw it in the reading cycle over and over again. I do not mind it at all. Just wondering if there is an error (Do not want to deny others a chance!) or is this your new strategy to expose blogs to more viewers (in that case, I do not mind. Really! :-) )))

    2) The Blog counter reaches NaN pretty soon.

    Cheers!

  480. 499 Amitabh December 8, 2008 at 5:57 am

    CJ!
This is a follow up of the previous comment. I realized what happens. I submitted “solvecases” first. After some time I submitted another blog of mine – “Churn-news”. And though the submission screen shows what is submitted next, the notification is generated for the first blog submitted. For some reason the submission (IP Address??) is getting locked to the first submission. Only when I flush my laptop buffer, I am able to submit something else. Just a feedback.

  494. 515 alphainventions December 9, 2008 at 5:52 pm

    Hey,

Thanks for all the valuable feedback, and praise. I wanted to let you know I’m still working hard to improve the site, and provide you all with quality traffic. I’ve noticed the bump rage has went down since I’ve added a few features, and I also noticed a lot more people are satisfied with the boost of readers to their blog. I will be re-adding the recent supporter button, and providing even more traffic to the subscribers, and reggies. Lets continue to stay focused on networking with other bloggers by reading and providing feedback to them in a prompt manner. Good job everyone, keep it up.

  495. 516 memoryofmoving December 9, 2008 at 6:21 pm

Someone said I have to submit my blog everyday to get traffic–if I registered my blog and update it everyday and visit Alphainventions everyday is that even possible?

  496. 517 sianbunnage December 9, 2008 at 6:22 pm

This is a great site and has already massively boosted the views that I’ve received on my blog. Hopefully people will start leaving comments soon. I’ve put a link to this site in my blogroll section.

  497. 518 alphainventions December 9, 2008 at 6:29 pm

Yes this is correct. You can submit your blog as often as you’d like 24/7 or you can save some time by using your AIID# and stay in the reading cycle much longer. Even if you don’t submit your blog everyday, you may get a reader from time to time. Keeping your blog updated always helps.

  498. 519 born2rant December 9, 2008 at 6:47 pm

I’ve been reading and commenting on quite a few. I’ve given you a plug in yesterday’s post (and I’m certain more plugs will follow especially after traffic like this comes through again)

Absolutely brilliant idea. I cannot even begin to express my amazement over this site. You are uniting the planet, one blog at a time…keep up the good work!

Alphainventions is not only back to normal, it really rocks now! Readership get boosted and I found more quality blogs submitted than before!

However, there are still commercial sites trying to get in, maybe this is something that you seriously need to solve.

I’ve included aplhainventions’ link in my every blog posting!

    Keep it up!

    Jaded

  511. 532 Jaded Lee December 10, 2008 at 1:32 pm

Oh by the way how do i obtain AIID#?

    What is the damage like?

  512. 533 alphainventions December 10, 2008 at 2:48 pm

arkangel3 that was a nice detailed comment, and I’m glad that you have benefited from alphainventions.com and hope you will continue to. Good job on the detailed feedback. Keep it up.

Jaded Lee good to see that you stuck around long enough to notice things were back to normal with a little touch of magic. I’m thinking of making a seperate slot for the commercial sites. Sometimes they are cool to read too, and those guys don’t have a service dedicted to them like you all.

Jaded for your AIID# Submit your blog, and you should see a subscribe button to get your AIID#. You are still able to notify readers about your blog, and get some readers without an AIID#.

The AIID# is just to keep you from getting bumped as often as the reggies. The reggies seem to be fine with the traffic they are getting, and that’s good, but you know an AIID# user will feel like pure energy when they see how many readers they have. You can cancel your subscription at anytime, but I’m sure after you get used to the growth in your blogs readership, you will want to continue.

Good job everyone, and keep it up. Continue to be a productive blogger by taking a little time out to read a couple of blogs, and provide feedback whether it be praises or constructive feedback. This will benefit the publisher by having a better understanding of his/her audience, and may benefit you by getting a link to your blog, and even a comments from blogs you commented on. Keep your blog updated, and in the reading cycle, because a blog with no readers is like talking to yourself, or owning a water store in the middle of the hot dry empty desert (you have what they need, but they don’t know about it). Lets go Network.

  513. 534 hgausman December 10, 2008 at 2:59 pm

Wow…thanks for adding my site. Still not sure how it works. How did my site get added? Do I have to keep adding my site to keep getting the hits? Not really sure how this works but it’s a fab idea anyway. Thank you.

  514. 535 alphainventions December 10, 2008 at 3:15 pm

hgausman yes it’s recommended that you notify readers about your blog often in order to continue to get readers.

  515. 536 Jaded Lee December 10, 2008 at 3:39 pm

Thanks for your reply & advice!

I will get my AIID# ASAP!

    Cheers!

  527. 548 timothymillar December 11, 2008 at 3:42 am

Hey Boss, Thanks for the traffic, Just wanted to relate these stats to you. When I write a new post I get a lot more hits, but this time was different, I posted on Jacobmails, a Paid to Read site and actually had people read it! Over Half of the traffic read the blog whereas
usually the traffic just skips on by. Must be a hot subject! Have I got Paid? Find out on my blog, Timothy Millar

  535. 556 gentledove December 11, 2008 at 1:57 pm

The great thing about Alpha is actually connecting to other bloggers, occasionally I bump someone who I don’t think I can comment and I’m sorry for that, but usually there is something positive to say-nice to meet you guys. :)

  536. 557 michaelkenjiz December 11, 2008 at 3:59 pm

  537. 558 supernatural66 December 11, 2008 at 4:33 pm

Nice idea- suggestion- allow people to filter by language from the top level- I don’t read arabic and seem to have a lot of foreign content streamed on the reader

  538. 559 thefoodinista December 11, 2008 at 4:39 pm

Thank you, alphainventions! I’ve had 17 hits already this morning referred by you. You rock!

  539. 560 forthekingsglory December 11, 2008 at 4:45 pm

I really have no idea how I got on alphainventions, but I can’t believe the number of hits I have had over the last two days! How did I get on the list anyway? LOL Thanks!

    i c u c me bottom up propagating aggregation

  542. 563 smith3000 December 11, 2008 at 9:43 pm

    Hey Cheru, nice work man.

Couple of observations for you. The live comment stuff is a nice idea but it doesn’t seem to be working, for me at least – though I realise my blog is maybe a little leftfield for a lot of people. I’m not really sure how you could improve on that as it’s all about an individual’s response to a blog.

What does work is the rolling aggregator aspect of Alpha Inventions. You’ve found a really neat way of allowing users to see a lot of blogs in a very short space of time, with a lot of stuff you just wouldn’t see otherwise. Very cool.

Improvements? You’re doing a great job already. The only thing I can think of is maybe having a ‘back’ button. I’ve been too slow hitting the pause button on a couple of ocassions and not seen those front pages again, which is a bit frustrating.

I hope you make some money out of this. It’s a good idea.

  543. 565 smith3000 December 12, 2008 at 12:56 am

Forgot to mention earlier .. I’ve had a good few views through AI, so thanks for that, but as I said ealier, I’ve not had too many comments and I think comments are where the real interesting stuff happens. It’s where a monologue becomes a dialogue.

Then again, I guess there’s a big difference between the number of people passing through here and the number of comments, right?

Well I got 13 visitors from Alphainventions already… interesting idea. Being from the online web 2.0 startups section of the crowd myself, I can appreciate what you are trying to do here.

I guess the next step would be to make a better UI and to be able to control the blog slideshow, I think it moves too fast

Thanks for your time in setting this up. I am sure you will go far in life!!!

  558. 580 Maura December 12, 2008 at 7:36 pm

I’m enjoying your site, and thank you for making it available! A friend added me and I’ve already seen increased traffic, which is great.

As for suggestions, I would elaborate on one above — either a “Back” button if I’m too slow to click, or make the “Pause” button much more prominent. Honestly, I didn’t see it until the person above mentioned it, and that really would have helped me catch a few sites earlier on.

    Great job.

  559. 581 billgreenwell December 12, 2008 at 7:41 pm

You need a medal. Thanks for the strange invention, as I call it on my link: strange as in novel and – unlike most inventions – good for everyone quite literally connected.

Just noticed an unusual amount of traffic apparently coming from this site. Amazing. If anyone wants to check out an iconclastic take on current affairs, controversies, politics—with an occasional satirical piece and even a film review please visit me at http://www.differentdrummer.typepad.com

  578. 602 Joe Bua December 14, 2008 at 12:55 am

I know this is not the recommended use, but sometimes when I’m having trouble getting to sleep, I’ll click over the Alpha Inventions and just let the pages change and watch the reflected colors change on my bedroom walls and ceiling.

And usually about ten minutes later I’m asleep.

  579. 603 Rain December 14, 2008 at 1:15 am

Hi, this is cool. I got 36 hits through AI in less than 1/2 hour. Like your style of writing – direct and flowing. Your “What is AI blog about” section is well written and explains a lot.

    The McChicken really helped – I guess……:-)

  589. 613 curryzone December 14, 2008 at 6:39 pm

    Hi, one quick question?

Is the AI site bandwidth hungry? If the site keeps refreshing every second or so, it would need a lot of b/w to run.

  590. 614 CAPT FLASH December 14, 2008 at 7:26 pm

I started seriously blogging in Jan 08. I did not get a thousand hits till Nov. 24. In less than four days I’ve gotten five hundred hits. ALPHA INVENTIONS is the greatest. I highly recommend it……Capt Flash

  591. 615 j.k.lynn December 15, 2008 at 1:58 am

I’ve received over 300 hits today just because of Alpha and made several blogging buddies over the last few weeks because of your site! I attached a link to you on my blog http://twelfthjen.wordpress.com to spread the great news. Just wanted to stop in and say THANK YOU for creating this tool!

Ps: I like the new Read/Pause button!

  592. 616 Maureen December 15, 2008 at 3:20 am

The slower cycle and allowing each site to remain on the screen for a longer is terrific. Now it is easier to scan through each blog, visit or save for future reference.Alphainventions has made it possible for me to communicate and network with individuals through our Blogs and this would never have happened without such an inventive networking tool.I encourage everyone who visits a site or blog to leave a cooment. We all appreciate the feedback and who knows, you may just make yourself a few friends, as I have :)

  593. 617 1000mitzvahs December 15, 2008 at 5:43 am

I had never heard of your website but saw you as a referrer on my blog. This is a great idea and helps all of us.

    Thanks.
